State of Grace
A really surprising opening track taking us to a previously unknown musical side of Taylor showing us her deep influences. The song is close to something U2 would make!
With the second track we return to the sound we always love from Taylor. Country-Pop. Many complained about electronic "Re-e-ed" part but it's okay and is kinda mixed well with the track. Judging from its production (Nathan Chapman) & compared to the rest of the album, I get the impression that Red was probably a song that didn't make the cut in "Speak Now"
This is sort of the kind of music I was expecting from Taylor on this album. A singer-songwriter genre song. With Dan Wilson as a co-writer, it's a step forward lyrically. Taylor is growing up.
I Knew You Were Trouble
That was quite a surprise. The song rings in your head after you listen to it. The production of the song delivers the feeling that Taylor experienced while writing it.
All Too Well
I think lyrically, this song is one of Taylor's best so far. Liz Rose co-wrote this as she did with Fearless, You belong with me, Tim McGraw etc. Chronologically, it's the first track Taylor wrote for Red. So many lines, different verses, and emotions. A sad but beautiful track.
Haha, 22. An obvious Max Martin & Shellback production. It kinda resembles Pink's Raise your Glass (produced by the same Duo). Party song. If it gets released as a single, critics will once again fire sticks & stones to Taylor just like they did with WANEGBT>
I Almost Do
A sad, beautiful ballad. It speaks to every young girl's heart. It could make you cry if you are in a similar condition.
We are never ever getting back together
What can I say about that, that hasn't been already told. Well, WE-EEEE!!!
Stay Stay Stay
Funny song, if you're in the mood, feel like dancing awkwardly on your bed, this is for you!
The Last Time
A beautiful and emotional song with Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody. Their voices blend so well and delivers this deep feeling. This is my personal favorite on the record.
A song close to the steps of "State of Grace". Fast paced lyrics that you can't help but read them to sing along!
Sad Beautiful Tragic
Mixed feelings about this ballad. It's a good song but not her best.
The Lucky one
Hey, it's no.13 on the CD. Haha, cool song. A good experimentation with music. Hard to tell who she's talking about!
Everything has changed
Well, Ed Sheeran's influence is all over the song. If you like his album, you'll love this song. Butch Walker on the production did his miracle again delivering a masterpiece. One of my favorites on the album.
Unexpected tune. Powerpop track with some "Boys like girls" influence. And maybe a lil bit of David Guetts, but not too much. Catchy, dance party song!
100% contemporary country. I think we all love this side of Taylor.
The Moment I Knew
Another sad song. Could make you cry! Shows Taylor's disappointment. But this time it's not like "in your face" like WANEGBT. We know she was hurt.
Come back...be here
Catchy ballad. Sound like something Avril Lavigne would write. It has Taylor's signature and it's awesome. Another favorite!
Girl At Home
Another song that could have been on a previous album. Cool song but in my opinion, it doesn't really blend well with the rest of the song on the album
Treacherous & Red (demos)
More like remixes than demos, unless the demo vocals were used in the master versions.
State of Grace (Acoustic)
I love it. Different emotions than the original, more like a ballad!
This is a good album. If not her best, it's definitely up to the standards of "Speak Now". Taylor's new direction out of her comfort zone is so promising, that I'm looking forward to what else she can give us! And yeah, it's not a country album, but that's not a bad thing. I think it's more like in the "Singer-Songwriter" category!
Thank you for your time!!
