I Auditioned for American Idol!
My dream is to be a country singer. I've watched the show American Idol since I was 3 years old and I am finally at the age to audition! On June 21st I went to the registration in Newark NJ with my mom and my cousin (best friend) We got there around 4 in the morning and waited in line for hours to only sign papers and get tickets and a wristband. I then prepared the rest of the day at home and the next day for my audition. I had to chose 3 songs and my song choices were: Mississippi's Crying by Payton Rae, Love Story by Taylor Swift, and Mean Girls by Sugarland. on June 23rd was the audition day. I had my hair teased with curls and my cowgirl boots and a lace one shoulder dress with a brown "bling belt" lol not like any of that matters...but anyway We went to sleep around 6 PM the day before and woke up at 10:50 PM and were on the road by 12:50. We got to the arena around 2 am. There was a about 20 people there just gathered waiting to get in line. When we were walking we saw 2 people who worked for the show sitting on a golf cart and I asked them were we should line up and I told the guy I wanted to see Ryan Seacrest and he said to wait near this statue and he swore I would see Ryan. He was right! We were at the very front of the filming where the gates were. When we started shooting we all had to scream stuff for the camera it was so cool. We waited for hours. Then around 7 or 6 am i turn my head and see Ryan Seacrest walking towards me! He shook a few hands but wasnt really talking then he came up to me and asked me my name. I was so star struck! He then walked over to a few more people then came back to me and I asked for a picture! It was amazing. Then we shot a few scenes with Ryan and he made a few announcements. Then we went inside the arena. We sat in our section and waited for the producers and Ryan. They talked for awhile then the auditions were starting. They lined up 12 tables with thin curtains on each side. They took us down by sections and we lined up and they sectioned us of in groups of for. When it was my turn I walked with my group to table 6. I was so nervous and I was the youngest out of everyone. They gave us each 15 seconds to sing and there were people singing on each side of us at different tables. The way it works is there is 3 rounds. The first round is what I'm explaining then the 2nd round is producers, then the 3rd round is the celebrity judges you see on TV. So if your wondering...what about the horrible people you see on the show?? Well they are sent through and they sign a waver saying that they will not get through they are just there for TV purposes. Anyway it was pretty hard to focus but I did my best. Then when we were all finished they said: "You guys are all so talented but-" and thats when my heart just sank. They said "but your not what we are looking for lasts years competition is really hard to forget and we need people who can top them." So I walked off to my mom I was disapointed for awhile but I realized, it was all about the experience. I had a blast, I met Ryan Seacrest. I had an interview with Fox News, and I sang with all the other people who were auditioning it was a blast. I learned so much from it and it was my first time doing something like that. And I know this is just the beginning for me :) I am going to be performing at the Delaware State Fair July 21st and auditioning for The Voice July 22nd! American Idol was amazing! I have a video of my whole journey on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/user/AlexMaryMusic?feature=mhee
