In honor of Taylor Swift’s 23rd birthday, MTV today announced it would be throwing the multiplatinum, VMA award and 6-time Grammy winning artist a worldwide weeklong party that will culminate with the exclusive global premiere of her 23rd music video, the highly anticipated clip for “I Knew You Were Trouble.” the third single from her #1 worldwide smash album, RED, during MTV First: Taylor Swift on December 13 at 4:40 pm ET.
"As soon as I started writing this song, I knew it was different from anything else on the record, so I knew that I wanted the video to be different from anything we'd ever done,” said Taylor Swift. “I wanted to tell the story of a girl who falls into a world that's too fast for her, and suffers the consequences.”
Shot over two days in and around Los Angeles, in the video Swift plays the character of a girl being completely drawn in by her attraction to a guy (portrayed by Reeve Carney, currently playing Peter Parker in the Broadway production of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) with a beautiful smile and big personality. But he has a dark side, and Taylor's character loses herself with the guy and in the relationship, becoming part of his dark world. She eventually sees that she's lost herself and has learned her lesson.
"I feel incredibly lucky to have gotten to work with Anthony Mandler and to have Reeve Carney as my co-star in the video, and I can't wait for everybody to see it,” Swift added.
The weeklong multiscreen celebration kicks off today and builds to Thursday’s music video premiere during “MTV First: Taylor Swift.” The schedule as follows:
MONDAY (12/10): MTV.com will debut an exclusive photo gallery from the video shoot, as well as an audio clip of the song.
