Personally I think a Swiftie loves Taylor as an individual person whereas a fan loves the music and that is mainly it. Swifties love Taylor; who who she was, is and will be in the future. Swifties are forever and always

A Swiftie is a person who like Taylor for herself and will be there to support her no matter what. They will get up at midnight to buy or download new music and will cry during concerts and try to get to the T-Party in anyway they can. They will also keep up to date on any nominations/new projects she's going to do
A fan is someone who likes her music and will support her in some things. They will buy her music but they won't care if they don't get it for a few weeks and they will try to go to concerts but they won't freak out as much as a Swiftie will
    That's just my opinion anyway

For me, a swifty is the equivalent of a superfan, and a fan is just someone who likes her music and owns merch but doesn't know much about her. A you can be a fan of any artist, like me: I'm a fan of Carrie Underwood and One Direction but you couldn't call me a 'directioner' or that i have '1 direction infection', because i only know the songs 'One Thing', 'What Makes You Beautiful', and 'Up All Night'. but here on TC, we are all swifties because we have a TC and constantly talk about Taylor and basically live in her life, and that we call ourselves Swifties. i know, it's complicated, but that's the best i could put it in words. haha sorry i'm reading it over and i'm like, "how will anyone understand this?" haha try your best...

I think a fan is someone who listens to Taylor's music, maybe even likes her as a person/role model/whatever. But to a fan, Taylor is one of many artists they like and not really all that special.

To a Swifty, Taylor IS special. If she isn't our favourite artist, she'll be one of two or three who are seen as being vastly better than all others.

To a fan, Taylor is cool. To a Swifty, she is AWESOME!!!

I really don't think there's a concrete line or even a quantitative line, and there shouldn't be.

Seriously. I'm a Swiftie because I choose to be one. I don't go crazy at concerts, I'm not about to try for midnight releases (That's what preorders are for, yo), etc etc. She isn't the only artist I'll make sure to get concert tickets for. Hell, she isn't even my first musical obsession (that would be Utada Hikaru).

What's the difference between a Swiftie and a fan? Labeling. The only criterion that matters. It's the only indicator that's universal and consequently the only one that matters.

That's my two cents. Your lines are drawn where you want them, of course.

Being a Swiftie means that you will follow and support Taylor in whatever she does. You don't become a Swiftie by meeting her, having the most merchandise, or going to one of her concerts. You become a Swiftie because you love Taylor and her music and you always will

I've heard some people say the more merch you have the bigger of a fan you are or something along those lines, but that's not true. Anyone can be a Swiftie, seriously. Every Swiftie is equal

To be a swiftie is not just about the music, that is just for fans, us as swifties we live thinking and dreaming worldwide. Will do everything to go to a concert, to get Taylor's signature no matter what. Know everything bout her life and listening her songs, probably 24/7. To love Taylor with your heart.

A swiftie is a dedicated fan, who would do anything for Taylor in a heartbeat. A swiftie sticks around through Taylor's hard times. When you become a swiftie, there's no turning back, you're forever loving Taylor. Once a swiftie, always a swiftie, forever and always. ♥

When you are a Swiftie you love everything that Taylor do. You support her. You are only a fan of Taylor. A fan will just buy her CDs, a Swiftie will buy her CDs, all the magazines where she is, go to her concert, try to get to the T-Party, vote for her in all competitions, support her in all her projects. :)
