The Loft '89 / Club Red / T-Party FAQ
Note: The following FAQ has been updated so that the T-Party is consistently referred to as Loft 89. Some examples may be historical and not relate specifically to the 1989 tour.
What is Loft 89?
Loft 89 is a backstage area that some lucky fans are selected to visit after Taylor's shows. An invite to Loft 89 includes the opportunity to chat with Taylor for a few minutes in a relaxed environment with places to sit and refreshments. Loft 89 has existed as long as Taylor has been headlining tours under different names. During the Fearless / Speak Now tours it was known as the T-Party and during the Red tour it was called Club Red. Loft 89 is the name of the experience during the 1989 tour and in the US the room is now sponsored by Xfinity. Xfinity made a promotional video about Loft 89 in 2015 which can be viewed here.
How do I get invited to Loft 89?
Taylor's staff (and often her mom, Andrea) look out for fans to invite during the concert. You may be invited because you have an incredible sign, wild dance moves, a great outfit or you may just look like the sort of person who wants to meet Taylor! Her staff look out for a wide variety of people to invite and no one can say for sure who will be invited other than her staff.
During the show a member of staff approaches fans that they would like to invite and usually asks if they've ever met Taylor before. If they say no, they're invited to meet her after the show and each given a wristband and told where to meet after the show. Club Red and Loft 89 fans also receive a piece of paper (one per group) with written instructions on where to meet in case they're too busy losing their minds to remember all the details!
Any tips for getting an invite?
Although a lot of people feel that bringing a sign or making an awesome costume will help you to stand out, that isn't guaranteed to get you an invite to Loft 89. Taylor's management want to see people having a good time and if you're concentrating too much on being seen by the right people, it can spoil the enjoyment of the show.
The best thing to do is enjoy yourself at the show and forget as much as you can about Loft 89. If you look natural and have lots of fun you may just feel that magic tap on your shoulder!
Can I improve my chances of getting invited before I go into the show?
There have been some cases where Taylor has read about fans on Tumblr who are going to her show and has asked her management to find them so that she can meet them. If you're a big fan of social media you might find it fun to post about your plans online so other Swifties can enjoy your adventure too.
There's also a rumoured link between the fans who've posted online / been noticed by Taylor Nation and those later invited to Loft '89. Whether or not the two events are connected is subject to debate as only Taylor's management will know for sure but if you're around before the show, feel free to say hi to Taylor Nation at their booth because it's certainly not going to hurt your chances!
Do I have to be sat at the back of the arena to be picked for Loft 89?
No, there have been stories of people all over the arena getting invited, even in the pit! It's possible to get an invite wherever you're sat, however you might find it harder to get noticed if you have seats near to the front of the stage. When it comes to Taylor though, anything is possible.
I'm going to be placed in a part of the venue that Taylor's mom will find it difficult to get to, will that ruin my chances of getting an invite?
No. If Taylor's management want to invite you to the T-Party, they will find a way to get to you. Taylor's staff are very tough folk and if they need to, they will walk along a row of people to speak to you. If for some reason this isn't possible, they will try to catch your attention so that you come over to them. Whatever happens, if they want to offer you something, they will not let your location stop them.
I have pit passes, can I be invited to the T-Party?
It is a very rare occurrence for fans to be picked from the pit to go to the T-Party however pit passes should not be considered "bad tickets" because of this. You'll have a great view of the show from where you're located and be able to experience the show in a way that not many people get the chance to.
I've met Taylor before, does that mean I won't be invited?
Not necessarily, it's up to the staff to decide. Whatever you do, please be honest with them. Meeting Taylor doesn't necessarily mean you won't get to go and if they can't invite you, they may have another treat that they can offer you.
What can I do in the T-Party room while I'm waiting to meet Taylor?
There's food and drink, a photobooth and interesting items to look at. Taylor isn't always the only guest at Loft 89 either. Her family often turn up and on this tour, some special guests have made an appearance too!
I heard that someone got to visit the Loft 89 room BEFORE the show. How did that happen?
Pre show Meet and Greets are sometimes held in the Loft 89 room, however this is a different set up to Loft 89 itself as the fans who attend are usually competition winners or invited by Taylor Nation.
I've got VIP tickets, does that mean I can go to Loft '89?
None of the VIP packages include the opportunity to meet Taylor or access to Loft '89. The pre-show party included with some tickets is a separate event from the gatherings organised by Taylor's management. Check the ticketing website that you purchased your ticket from for full details of what's included in your VIP package.
VIP fans have been known to be invited to Loft '89, they are considered for an invite as though they are the same as any other fan in the room.
Will there be a Loft '89 at my concert?
There isn't a Loft '89 every night but during the 1989 tour there were more shows that had a Loft 89 celebration than those that didn't have a Loft 89 after the show. A couple of factors that may affect the ability to have a Loft '89 include Taylor's health and travel arrangements.
Where has Loft '89 taken place in the past?
New for the 1989 tour, there's now a record on this thread of where Loft '89 has taken place. Read here for more details.
The T-Party has previously taken place regularly, however no record has been held on TC of where exactly it has / hasn't taken place.
Who has been to Loft '89 in the past?
New for the 1989 tour, there's a list of all the people who've wrote their stories on TC here. On past tours there have been many TC Swifties who have been to Loft '89 but no record has been kept of where their stories can be found.
I watched all the videos about Loft '89, read everyone's stories, I know all the tips and all the things I shouldn't do but they didn't pick me. What did I do wrong?
Don't worry about it, there's a lot of stories just like yours. Getting into the T-Party isn't like baking a cake, you could do everything perfectly and this particular cake can still come out burnt. A lot of Swifties have their theories on what works based on their own experiences but ultimately getting an invite requires a lot of luck.
Instead of thinking back to the concert and wondering what you did wrong, try to concentrate on what a great night it was. You spent that night partying with Taylor Swift!
I hope that helps, if anyone has anything to add or any questions please post :)
