I'm always so used to writing this sign: < and this sign 3 together to make a sideways heart but when i do, tc always deletes what i write after it. so look i wrote here, 'i love taylor swift < 3 so much'

    I think the < with a number next to it is some sort of HTML code (what makes the website) so without a > the website just think's it's pointless code and deletes it - hope that made some sense!

    ^ What they're saying is correct.

    The forum lets you use HTML as part of your posts, so when it sees < (less than), it seems to interpret it as an attempted tag if there's anything immediately following it.

    If it doesn't validate, it looks like it just assumes everything following the symbol is part of an attempted HTML tag and drops it.

    A workaround is <3 (& lt ;) - If you take out the spaces from what's in parens, you get <. It's an encoded less-than symbol that will get interpreted as a character (not as HTML tag notation), but will display as <.
