Your Definition of "Swiftie"

My mom doesn't get the difference between Swiftie and Taylor Swift Fan. I told her that Swifties are die-hard Taylor fans that will do anything and everything to show their love for Taylor. They are obsessive and drive their families crazy. She still doesn't get it. What's your definition os Swiftie?

    A Swifty is someone who loves absolutely everything about Taylor. They know and love more than her well known songs. They get all angry inside when someone finds out that someone doesn't like Taylor, but unfortunately has to realize that everyone is open to their opinion. ;)

    I realy couldn't have explained it better myself! Taylor Swift Fans like Taylor's music, Swifties follow her every move and adore her as a person, not just her talent. You definately got the "rive their families crazy" part! My parents are like "stop talking if this has something to do with Taylor Swift". Yep, the life of a Swiftie! :)

    I've stated this in every Swiftie thread to date, but it really boils down to:

    Call themselves Swifties.

    The other one is 'Likes Taylor as a human being as opposed to just her music,' but even that's questionable as to applicability across-the-board.

    I think that at the end of the day, someone who's willing to call themselves a Swiftie should have that right. They've already shown the dedication, so there's no reason to draw any other arbitrary lines in the sand.

    I've actually been thinking about this a bit the last few days, and I think it really does come down to 'anyone who thinks of themselves as a big enough Taylor fan calls themselves a Swifty'.

    SO many other artists have names for their fans. Technically, I'm a Diamond, a Smiler, a Little Lily, a Violet Bud and who knows what the heck else. But if I'm honest, I don't think of myself as many of those things at all (Though often because they are awful names, but never mind that! :D)

    Sometimes I may think of myself as a Diamond. But I'm always a Swifty.

    So I guess, if you think of yourself as a Swifty you are one; if you don't then you aren't. It's as simple as that.

    I don't really use the term "Swiftie" a LOT because I think everyone has different ways of expressing their love for Taylor - for me, it's sticking pictures everywhere in my room and listening to her a LOT and once I start talking about her I can't shut up. People (including my celebrity crush who is also from Melbourne lol) know that I love her, and I've had people call me/text me to tell me Taylor's on TV. I just honestly truly support Taylor, and I have all of her albums (Fearless I got on release day but had to have it ordered in and actually got my CD a week later, then Fearless Platinum, Speak Now & Speak Now World Tour Live I got on release day..), I have a lot of merchandise, I've seen her live six times, and I wear Taylor shirts almost every day. Then, I have a friend who loves her and has all of her albums and has been to see Taylor live I think 8 times now, and actually has Taylor's autograph & FEARLESS as tattoos, but doesn't have a lot of merchandise and doesn't have posters of her everywhere and doesn't really talk about her unless it's brought up... I have other friends who have posters everywhere and have never seen her live because they can't afford it or they're not allowed...

    Anyone can like Taylor, but at the end of the day, anyone who truly supports her music and loves her is a fan. Swiftie is just a cute little name which is used to group the fans together. At the end of the day, anyone who supports Taylor and wants to be called a Swiftie is a Swiftie in my opinion. :)

    To me, I think, "Swifty" is a term to show that you are dedicated to Taylor. You not only appreciate her music and vocal skills, but also love her for who she is. You love her personality, things she says and the tiniest things she does you might just happen to notice while other doesn't. (i.e. Meredith as pc wallpaper in the "Ours" video). But there are a lot of ways for people to show their love to Taylor, like many of you mentioned.
    I think that there is no strict rules to say whether if you qualify to be a Swifty, but if you choose to call yourself Swifty, I think you know what you have to do is love and support Taylor fully and wholeheartedly in whatever she does. You should love her for who she is as a human being rather than only support her music career.
    Many Swifties, like me, does not have a lot of money to buy merchandises, or maybe, like me, live overseas half a world apart to where Taylor is and hence is hard to order merchandises and products. But I think what makes all true Swifties the same is that their love for Taylor is inevitably the same and they know they will support Taylor no matter what happens.
    I know I have gone on rambling a bit too much, but that is what I wanted to say.. :)
