Posting mine. It's a novel. I've had most of this saved on my computer for years and I edit it every once in a while for different fan projects and such.


Dear Taylor,
Thank you. Those are the two words I have dreamt about telling you for so long. I have tried everything I could to tell you, I hope that somewhere along the line you have read one of the countless letters and myspace comments I have written you. But I won’t stop trying to thank you until I know I have succeeded. I fell in love with your music the first time I heard it back in late 2006 early 2007 somewhere around that time. But at that time it was just music, just songs I enjoyed listening to. I followed your career a little and was truly amazed at everything you could accomplish being just 2 and half weeks older than I am. Due to the crazy life I possessed during high school I had no free time and never got a chance to see you in concert. I remember one night during my freshman year in college my mom called and asked me if I wanted to go see you and Kellie in concert over Labor Day weekend. The answer was obviously yes and I have to say that is one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Now for a little back story, I promise it’s relevant. You set your goals on Nashville, being a singer, devoted everything to that. I did the same except with dance. I loved it more than anything in the entire world, I still do. My freshman year I made my college dance team and I have never been more proud of myself for anything in my entire life. All that work had finally paid off. I had finally accomplished something on my own. I lived it up, every last second of it. Spring rolls around and we have to try out again. I start working harder than I ever had in hopes to make the section of the team that it mainly juniors and seniors. Little did I know that at tryouts I wouldn’t just not make that part of the team, I wouldn’t make any part of the team I had given everything to for a year. My world was suddenly ripped apart. Everything I had ever worked for was just taken from me. I wasn’t good enough. How could I have gotten worse? What did I do? The initial pain was awful. I called my mom crying and she drove three hours that night to be with me. The next day we went shopping and bought outfits, complete with matching cowboy hats, to wear to your concert in September. It was just like “The Best Day”. I didn’t tell anyone what happened. I couldn’t bear to. I was humiliated, hurt, and didn’t have any idea what I was going to do with my life. My life for the last 8 years had revolved around dance. I made it through the summer somehow but it was when I got back to school that I really understood everything that had happened. My best friends had practice and I had nothing. The first football game was the Thursday before Labor Day. I had to be in the stands and watch for the first time. It killed me. Everything about that game was awful. I hated my life I couldn’t live like this. Everything I had ever lived for had been taken away from me. Dance had always been there when no one else had.
This brings me back to you. I promise it was relevant. The next day I drove 3 hours home to go to your concert the next day. I was so excited to finally get to see you and Kellie since I had never been able to see you before. I had wanted everything to be a surprise so I hadn’t watched or read anything about the tour even though it was more than halfway over at that point. As soon as you came on stage I knew there was something special. Then you came into the audience for Hey Stephen and were a section away from me. The first thing you did after you sang was walk over and hug this little girl who was crying and had the most shocked look on her face the moment you came out. It was adorable. Then you proceeded to hug everyone else as you made your way down to the small stage. Story time. “Fifteen”. All your friends turned on you but it didn’t matter now, something I had felt before. You were on our level; you hadn’t let fame get to you. You were still that sweet country singer I fell in love with a few years back. A few moments later you began to sing “Change”. It wasn’t a song I had paid a lot of attention to at the time. But as you started to sing it affected me in ways I didn’t know music could. That song was a perfect description of everything that had been doing on in my life. As you began to talk to the crowd it was though you were speaking directly to me. “I know that this has been a tough year for a lot of people”. Yes, beyond tough. It was the hardest thing to imagine that someday things might be different. Things were only getting harder each day. I was coming off of the hardest day I had had yet. I won’t go through the entire speech but basically every word you said was relatable to my life then. I believed you. I believed that things would change. Things would get better. They had to. I left that concert feeling so much better. I was happy for the first time in a while. I had one last chance to try out that Tuesday. I listened to “Change” on repeat up until that moment. Going back in there to face those coaches and my old teammates was the single hardest thing I have ever had to do. I had to face the people who caused all of that pain for me and subject myself to it again. I had to face the team after I had been told I wasn’t good enough to be one of them even though I had been. Your music gave me the strength to do that. I didn’t make it though. I honestly don’t think they even thought about it. It hurt but I turned to your music to help me through it.
The one thing in my life I truly believe is that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes it’s hard to see past a situation to know why it’s happening. I learned later that you hadn’t been singing “Change” at other concerts around that time. But you sang it that night. I honestly believe it was for me to hear. Talking to your mom at a different show, she told me that sometimes you just have a feeling that you need to sing something one night. I honestly believe, even though neither of us knew it, that song was meant for me that night. Obviously you didn’t know that and at the time I didn’t either. I am not sure what I would have done if it weren’t for that song that night. Since then I have moved on. I still love dancing but I have learned there is more to life. You showed me the power that music can have on people and I turned to it. You helped me discover my dream of moving to Nashville and helping artists achieve their dreams in the music industry. Your music led me to meeting some of my best friends. But it also left me with one more dream. To thank you for everything you did for me. In a way you saved my life. I can’t say what would have happened if I hadn’t seen you that night, if you hadn’t sang that song. Some crazy things had crossed my mind in the days before. God wanted me to go to that concert that particular night. It was no coincidence. The next time I saw you on the 2010 leg of the tour was exactly one year after that audition. Again my mom drove 3 hours to be with me. Except this time it was a good reason. The tickets were her Christmas present from me along with a scrapbook entitled The Best Day. It’s our song. That night meant so much to me. It had its’ own set of memories time spent with my mom, being right there when you sang Hey Stephen, and my first Taylor hug. Nashville flooded that night so you had to leave without having a T Party. I walked onto the floor and handed Lauren the thank you note I had written you. I hope you got it. I meant to give it to you in person but I figured any way of getting it to you was something. I hope that one day I will meet you and be able to say “Thank You” in person but all I really want is to know that I have told you, whether it is through this letter, one I have written before, or one I have yet to write. You changed my life so much Taylor. I will be eternally grateful for that. You aren’t just another singer to me. Thank you. I will ever be able to say that enough.
It has been a rough journey to meet you, I went to CMA Fest this past year, which was the single greatest trip of my life. I didn’t get to meet you, but I did get to see you perform for the first time in over a year thanks to my flight getting cancelled. I saw you again in Greensboro, NC. Got up every morning for 2 weeks to try to win meet and greets. But never won them and I didn’t get T Party that night either. But it was ok I had Charlotte the next week. I had emailed one of the dj’s at a local station, who I had met a few years before, and explained how much it would mean to meet you. Three days before the show he emailed saying he would take me as his guest to the meet and greet. After years my dream was finally coming true. The next day, you announced you were sick and postponed the show. I spent the next 4 months waiting for November 16th so I could finally meet you. A week before the show, actually the day of the CMA’s he emailed and said they weren’t able to get the passes for the new tour date. I was crushed and I did shed a few tears that night at the concert. The next day, my best friend and I saw you one last time on the Speak Now tour and while meeting you just wasn’t meant to be it was an incredible night. You again chose a song to play that related so much to my life. Never Grow Up, this was only the second of your shows I’d been to that I hadn’t been with my mom so it was a little emotional. I had moved into my first apartment a few months before, and was almost done with the first semester of my senior year of college. I sobbed like a baby, you can actually hear me crying in my friends video she took of that song. But your mom was so sweet to me, hugging me and telling me she would be my mom for the night. I don’t know why all of this happened, why I wasn’t able to meet you after believing I would for 4 months, but I believe everything happens for a reason. One day I will get the chance to thank you for everything you’ve ever done for me, which is more than I could ever put in words. But I’m realistic so if that chance is never presented to me again I want to make sure I’ve told you thank you. I owe you that much! So thank you, for everything. One day I will know for sure that I have thanked you. Hopefully I’ll see you soon!
