This weekend Taylor kicks off the Canadian leg of her RED Tour with two sold-out stadium shows at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, followed by an appearance at the MuchMusic Video Awards. Taylor Swift announced tonight that she will launch a North American stadium and arena tour in early 2013 in support of her blockbuster new album, RED. Taylor made the special announcement in partnership with ABC News on tonights primetime TV special All Access Nashville with Katie Couric A Special Edition of 20/20. RED was released this week to widespread worldwide critical acclaim and has already topped the iTunes album sales charts in 40 countries.

On The RED Tour, Taylor is currently slated to headline 58 shows in 45 cities in 29 states and 3 provinces in 2013. The tour will kick-off on March 13 in Omaha, Nebraska and continue through September. Released less than a month ago, Taylor Swifts fourth studio album, RED, is already approaching the 2.8 million album worldwide sales mark.

After debuting with musics highest first-week album sales in over a decade, RED is currently in its third consecutive week in the #1 position atop Billboards 200 top albums chart, and as of this week RED will have scanned more than 1.8 million albums in the U.S. since its October 22nd release.

RED, released on Big Machine Records, has topped the sales charts in 42 countries worldwide, with international sales topping 920,000 albums thus far. Taylor now has worldwide career record sales in excess of 26 million albums and 75 million song downloads.

This weekend, tickets went on sale for Taylors two July RED Tour stops at Foxborough, Mass.s Gillette Stadium, with the back to back stadium shows selling out in just 5 minutes.

Billboard reports, s official: Taylor Swifts sold a whopping 1.208 million copies last week in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, scoring musics highest weekly sales number in more than a decade (since 2002s The Eminem Show), and earning Taylor a new page in the history books as the only female artist (and the fourth artist ever) to hit the 1 million first-week figure twice since SoundScan began tracking actual sales in 1991.

RED notched the 8th largest first-week debut in SoundScan chart history, and the 2nd biggest week ever for a female artist.

RED, released on Big Machine Records, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (Taylors second consecutive million-plus album selling debut and third chart-topping album), and this week sold more than the rest of the albums in the Top 50 combined.

RED is only the 18th album in history to sell a million units in a single week; Taylors Speak Now album is another one of the 18, with a 2010 debut of more than 1.04 million copies.

RED accounted for 19.3% of total albums sold this week -- one out of nearly every 5 CDs or downloads sold this week was Taylors RED album.

With RED, Taylor set a new worldwide iTunes record for highest ever first-week album sales, with 565,545 copies sold digitally around the globe. Six-time GRAMMY Award winner Taylor Swifts highly-anticipated fourth studio album, Red, arrives in stores on October 22nd, and Taylor will make several national TV appearances during release week to launch the Big Machine Records album.

On release date, October 22nd, a select group of Taylors Twitter followers and Facebook friends will join her in New York, where they will literally her during her release week events, providing live updates to millions of fans around the world via social media postings. Taylor currently has more than 19.7 million Twitter followers and 34.9 million Facebook likes.

Taylor will be live in Times Square for ABCs Good Morning America on both October 22nd and 23rd (7:00 a.m. ET/PT), and on the 23rd she will be the lead guest and perform on The Late Show with David Letterman (11:35 ET/PT on CBS).

On the 24th Taylor will be live on ABCs The View for a performance and chat, and on the 25th she will make a special concert appearance on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Taylor Swift Exhibit to Join MIM’s Artist Gallery on October 20

On October 20, the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) will unveil the newest addition to its Artist Galleryan exhibit honoring international multiplatinum superstar Taylor Swift. The exhibit will be welcomed with a weekend-long celebration including live music, educational workshops, exhibit talks, and more!

MIMs Artist Gallery features musical instruments linked to world-renowned musicians and music innovators as well as photographs, wardrobe pieces, personal items, and video footage from various performances. The instruments and artifacts on display in this gallery each have meaningful and unique connections to the artists. Swifts objects will be on display along with iconic instruments from artists worldwide, such as the piano used by John Lennon when he composed Furthermore, the space dedicated to the Taylor Swift exhibit will be one of the largest for a single artist, matched only by the Elvis Presley display.

The first section of the exhibit details the beginning of Swifts career, from learning to play guitar and writing songs to the release of her first single, Tim McGraw, in June 2006. Swift writes or cowrites every song on all of her albums, including her self-titled debut, Taylor Swift" (released in October 2006). Objects in this part of the exhibit include Swifts handwritten lyrics for the song Tim McGraw, along with her signature Taylor koa, six-string acoustic guitar and cowboy boots featured in the Tim McGraw music video.

The second section features Swifts meteoric rise to superstardom, shown through instruments, stage wear, and set pieces from the Speak Now World Tour. Items on exhibit from this tour include her sparkly red Gibson Les Paul electric guitar, which she played while outfitted in her gold Roberto Cavalli dress for tour performances of Also on display will be a Deering banjo and a Leilani ukulele used on the tour, which demonstrate Swifts talents as a multi-instrumentalist. The centerpiece of the exhibit is a large prop bell that was a featured and interactive set piece used during performances of the song on the Speak Now World Tour.

Not only is Taylor Swift one of the most successful musical artists in the world, she is also a multi-instrumentalist and an extraordinarily talented songwriter, said Dr. Bill DeWalt, MIMs president and director. We are honored to showcase some of the important artifacts from Swifts career, and we hope this exhibit inspires our guests of all ages to play an instrument and make their own music.

MIM will celebrate the exhibits opening with a variety of activities for the entire family on October 20 and 21. Museum guests will have the opportunity to listen to an exhibit talk by MIM curatorial assistant David Wegehaupt, attend a songwriting workshop with the Arizona Songwriters Association, watch Taylor Swift music videos in the MIM Music Theater, and listen to students from Rock Roll High School singing Taylor Swift songs.
